Exceptional X-Axis Traversal: Line Dancer 2001 Coating Test
Automotive accessory parts often come in long lengths. Achieving uniform coating thickness at both ends and the center has been a challenge. This issue was resolved in 2001 with the introduction of Soft Boy, which is served as the prototype for the Line Dancer and now called as the Line Dancer Libero.
Unlike free-standing robots that move in a circular pattern from a fixed position, leading to uneven coating thickness at the ends and center, the Line Dancer uses a suspended robot system. This allows the robot to move along the X-axis (traversal axis), ensuring that long workpieces are uniformly coated by simply extending the X-axis.
Today, advancements have been made from PTP teaching to SWANIST, the teaching assistant software, making the teaching process easier. Digitalization is now at the forefront.
